TIL letting my duncan coral sit in lower flow for a week made it open up way bigger
I used to jam my duncan right in front of a powerhead thinking it needed all that current. Then I moved it to a calmer spot near the sandbed last month and now each head extends twice as far, has anyone else noticed flow sensitivity with LPS corals?

Yeah I did the same thing at first. Thought more flow meant more food hitting the polyps. Reality is it just stresses them out. Duncan's are super sensitive to that. Moved mine to a low flow corner with indirect current and it went from barely opening to dinner plate sized extensions. They feed better too when the tentacles aren't getting blasted around. LPS like duncans and acans seem to prefer that gentle sway over constant strong flow. Just make sure the spot still gets enough light while you're rearranging.

Funny how that works, isn't it? It's like with a lot of things in life - we always assume more is better until we finally step back and see the real results. Sometimes the best growth happens when you just give something room to breathe.
