Standing at the fish store watching a guy dump his whole tank

I was at Blue Ocean Aquatics last Tuesday and saw a guy bring in a 5 gallon bucket full of dead coral and cloudy water. He said he added three new fish in one weekend and his cycle completely crashed. Has anyone else had to restart from scratch after getting too excited with new stock?

Wait, isn't dumping your whole tank part of the learning curve though? lol I did the same thing my first year, added like 6 fish in a week and nuked everything. Had to scrub my rocks and start the cycle over from zero. Honestly the tank came back way stronger the second time.

Totally been there @hayes.tara, I crashed my first tank so bad the filter smelled like a swamp for weeks.
