Just realized my LFS guy was right about running carbon 24/7, I stopped for 3 weeks and my leather corals went from happy to sulking overnight.

Swapped out the carbon on a Tuesday, by Friday the sinularia looked like it was melting and when I threw fresh carbon back in Saturday morning it perked up in 2 days, has anyone else had corals react that fast to removing carbon?

Wait, it perked back up in two days? That's wild, I always figured carbon was more of a slow burn thing, not something your corals would notice that fast.

Buddy of mine had the same thing happen with his toadstools. He pulled carbon out for a water change and forgot to put it back in for like 10 days. His toadstool went from fully open to looking like a deflated mushroom, slime coming off it and everything. He was ready to toss it. Threw fresh carbon in on a Sunday night, by Tuesday morning that thing was puffed back up and had its polyps out again. I thought he was full of it until I tried it myself a year later and saw my own sinularia do the same thing inside 48 hours. Something about pulling those toxins out fast makes a real difference.
