PSA: My neighbor told me I was using too much fertilizer on my rooftop tomatoes, and she was right

Was dumping this liquid feed every week on my patio pots. Plants looked super leafy but barely any fruit. Lady next door who grows herbs said "hey, you're burning them out with all that nitrogen." Cut back to once every 2 weeks and watered more. First harvest this week was like triple what I got before. Anyone else get bad advice from garden center employees that made things worse?

Did you ever notice how garden centers always push those big bags of fancy fertilizer but never mention that most of us just drown our plants in it? I did the same thing with my jalapeños last year, ended up with a forest of green leaves and like three tiny peppers.

Bought one of those "tomato booster" concentrates and went through half a bottle before realizing the plant was just getting fat and lazy on nitrogen. Now I use it like once a month and actually get tomatoes instead of a jungle.
