Tried streaming the original series before watching the new revival and I think I messed up

I was stuck deciding whether to rewatch the 90s show from scratch or jump straight into the new revival episodes. I went with rewatching the whole original series first, all 6 seasons over about 8 weeks. Now I'm noticing every little callback in the revival and it's kind of nice but also the new pacing feels super slow compared to what I just finished. Has anyone else gone back and watched the old episodes before the new ones? Did it help you or just make you compare everything?

Wait, hold on. You sat through all six seasons in eight weeks? Man, that is a LOT of X-Files in a short time. I did the exact same thing when the revival was announced, knocked out the whole original run in about two months and honestly, I feel like it ruined the new episodes for me a bit. You're spot on about the pacing in the new episodes feeling super slow. The old show had that monster-of-the-week rhythm where even the slow burn episodes still felt tight, but the revival episodes just drag in comparison. Not to mention the original seasons had way better chemistry between Mulder and Scully right from the start. Take this with a grain of salt, but I think I would have enjoyed the new episodes more if I had just skipped the rewatch and gone in fresh.

@jasonp71 you're right about the monster-of-the-week rhythm but actually it was 11 seasons not 6.
