Hot take on the new Frasier reboot I just caught on Paramount Plus
I finally sat down to watch the new Frasier revival last night after putting it off for months. Honestly it felt like watching a cover band at a county fair that's trying really hard but missing the original's soul. The new cast is fine and all but the timing is off on the jokes and the apartment doesn't have that same lived in feel. My buddy Dave said I was being too harsh but I told him it's like when a landlord paints over old cabinets instead of replacing them. The whole thing just feels hollow even though the actors are trying their best. Maybe I'm just getting old but some shows should stay in their era you know? Has anyone else tried the new episodes and felt this way or am I just being a grump?

Right, but let me ask you this - did you catch how they did the whole Frasier/Niles dynamic with just Frasier and Freddy? Cause that's the real problem I got with it. Freddy's trying to be the uptight foil like Niles was but he's 30 years younger and it comes off more like a teenager arguing with their dad than that perfect sibling tension they had. And the apartment thing you mentioned is spot on, that new place looks like a hotel suite they picked out of a catalog. Did you actually laugh out loud at any point or was it more of a polite chuckle situation for you too?

Wait, you actually had to sit through polite chuckles? I was straight up cringing in my seat the whole time.
