Had a player roll 3 natural 1s in a row during a boss fight
I was DMing a D&D session last month and our rogue tried to pickpocket a key from a sleeping guard before a big fight. He rolled 1, 1, 1 and woke up the whole dungeon. Ended up turning it into a hilarious chase scene where he bribed the guard with a fake magic rock. Has anyone else turned a terrible streak into something fun?

Wait, is it really that deep though? @patel.daniel is right about the odds being crazy low, but at the end of the day it's just a dice game. The rogue bribing the guard with a fake rock sounds way more fun than if he'd just succeeded and moved on. I've seen players lose their minds over a bad roll and totally forget that the whole point is to craft a memorable story. My group once had a paladin crit fail his intimidation check and accidentally start a religious argument with a goblin, which actually ended up with us recruiting the guy. The math is cool to think about, but the real magic is in how you roll with the punches.
