Overheard two spotters arguing about 747s vs A380s at SFO last weekend. Got me thinking.
I was at the bay trail near SFO Saturday around 4pm, just watching arrivals. This older guy said the 747 will always be the real queen because it's been around longer and saved air travel. Then his buddy fired back that the A380 is way more impressive to watch land because of its size and how quiet it is. I've only been spotting for about 2 years so I don't have a strong opinion yet. Which one do you guys think puts on a better show when it comes in, the classic hump or the double decker?

Have you noticed how the A380's approach just looks more deliberate and graceful, like it's taking its time with the landing? The 747 is probably louder and more dramatic with that classic roar, but the double decker really does feel almost silent until it's right on top of you. For pure visual impact, I'd give the edge to the A380 at SFO especially, because that low approach over the bay just makes its size even more jaw-dropping.
