Pineapple ruined my last pizza night with friends
I had to choose between Hawaiian and pepperoni for a group order last Friday. I picked Hawaiian because I thought it was time people gave it a fair shot. Big mistake. Two friends straight up refused to eat it and ordered a separate pizza. The other three picked off the ham and pineapple and left a greasy mess. So now I'm stuck with a half-eaten weird pizza and tension in the group. Has anyone else had a topping choice backfire like that at a gathering?

Man, I feel your pain. What worked for me was just being upfront from the start - I texted the group chat a simple poll with three topping choices before we even picked a place. It took five minutes and saved everyone the drama. The Hawaiian fans got their sweet and salty fix, and the pepperoni purists got what they wanted too. No hard feelings, just pizza.

Chipotle down the street from me does a $5 burrito bowl deal on Tuesdays and the line is always somehow still wrapped around the building. It reminds me of what @henryreed is talking about with pizza toppings. People will argue forever about the dumbest stuff like pineapple or pepperoni but the real problem is nobody wants to be the one who just says what they actually want. I see this at work all the time with project deadlines too everyone dances around the issue until someone finally writes it down on a whiteboard. Once you put the choices out there plain and simple the arguing just stops. It's like magic, but really it's just people being lazy about communicating until you force them to.
