PSA: Shifting a rug around fixed my puppy's potty training issues

My puppy kept having accidents in the same corner of the living room, no matter how often I took him out. I was about to give up and just accept a smelly house. Then, during a big clean, I moved a large area rug to cover that exact spot. Suddenly, he stopped going there and started using the patio door like he was supposed to. I think the change in texture under his paws messed with his usual routine. Now, I keep the rug there as a permanent reminder for him. It cost me nothing and saved my floors. Maybe try altering the environment before you lose your mind over training.

That's honestly a genius fix. So it was purely the texture change that did it. Have you tried moving the rug BACK since then, just to see if the habit is truly broken or if the rug is now doing all the heavy lifting?

My pillowcase texture totally changed my sleeping position too.

Feel that completely. My old silk case made me curl up weird. Switched to linen and now I'm flat on my back.
