The squeaky toy bloopers burned into my retinas

Tried to get a cute shot of my corgi mid-chase with her favorite hedgehog toy last Tuesday. She launched herself at it right as my phone camera was on burst mode, and every single frame caught her mid-snarl with her eyes rolled back and drool strings flying. I mean, 37 photos and somehow not one usable shot, but the two of us have been laughing at the worst one all week. The trick that actually worked? I put the toy on a slow ceiling fan spin and filmed from below, so she kept doing this confused head tilt thing instead of pure chaos. Has anyone else managed to salvage a blooper session with a weird camera angle or prop setup? My friend swears by using a mirror, but that sounds like a broken nose waiting to happen.

Is it weird that I'm almost jealous of how perfect those drool action shots sound? My last blooper session with my lab involved me trying to balance a treat on my head for a "calm" photo, and I ended up with 12 frames of my own cross-eyed face and a very confused dog staring at my scalp. The ceiling fan trick is genius though, I might steal that and just accept that my dog will always look like a fuzzy gremlin in motion. Honestly, the only mirror trick I ever tried ended with my cat launching off a dresser and me catching a paw to the cheek, so you're probably smarter than my friend for avoiding that mess. I'd take a thousand derpy outtakes over one perfect shot anyway, those are the ones you actually send to your group chat.
