My sister told me my pet photos were 'borderline terrifying' so I had to rethink my approach
She said every picture I took of my cat Gary looked like a mugshot from a horror movie because I was always using the flash at 2 in the morning. I switched to natural light from the kitchen window around 10 AM and now his derpy tongue-out shots actually look goofy instead of scary. Anyone else get blunt feedback from family that made you change how you photograph your pets?

Wait, did you ever try that flash look on PURPOSE for some actual horror-style pet photos? Bet Gary could pull off some genuinely creepy Halloween cards.

Used to think flash photography was the only way to get clear shots of my dog, especially since he's a black lab and always blends into the shadows. My sister told me all my photos made him look like a ghost with glowing red eyes, which I honestly thought was kind of funny at first. But then I tried taking pictures in the morning with the sliding door open and the sunlight coming in, and now his goofy grin actually looks warm and happy instead of like he's about to haunt someone. That blunt feedback was a real eye-opener, and I'm definitely getting better photos now.
