Showerthought: Big stores moved the milk to the back on purpose years ago and I only just noticed

Was grabbing a gallon at the new Giant Eagle off 5th Street and realized I had to walk past like 40 aisles of chips, soda, frozen pizza to get there. Then it hit me - they've been doing this since at least 2008 when that one SuperTarget opened near my old place. Whole point is to make you impulse buy on the way back. Took me 15 years to connect the dots. Anyone else feel like it's gotten worse lately, or am I just slow?

It's the same trick gas stations have been pulling for decades, putting the lotto counter and snacks as far from the door as possible. They count on you getting tunnel vision for the milk and grabbing a bag of chips on the way back out.

I always walk to the back first then grab my milk on the way out so I don't fall for it.
