Found out my cat's lobster costume cost more than my actual dinner last night

I was scrolling through my receipt and realized the fabric for his little claws was $18 at the craft store, and I paid $12 for a burger. Has anyone else blown way too much cash on a costume that only gets worn for 10 minutes?

Made the same mistake with a hot dog costume last year. The felt for the mustard cost me way more than I want to admit and the cat wore it for maybe 30 seconds before peeling it off in the hallway. Hot glue is the way to go, but be careful not to let it pool up or it gets stiff and the cat will hate it even more. Also learned that if you attach the costume with thin velcro strips instead of elastic, it pops off easier when they inevitably give up and flop over.

The felt for the mustard squiggle is a whole mood though. Next time try getting a yard of fleece from the remnant bin at Joann's, it's way cheaper and you can hot glue the edges instead of sewing. Also if you cut the lobster claws a bit wider at the base and attach them with a loop of elastic that goes around the cat's leg, they stay on way longer than 10 minutes. Learned that the hard way after my cat's taco costume fell apart during the first photo attempt.

actually lobster claws are usually the other way around. the big claw is the one with the pincer and the small one is the crusher. so if you made fabric claws you might wanna swap them. my cat had a hot dog costume last halloween and i spent $22 on the felt for the mustard squiggle alone. he wore it for maybe 45 seconds before rolling over and refusing to move.
