Ugh, my 2018 audit was the same wake-up call. I had a box of faded thermal receipts from a supplier that were completely illegible by the time the IRS asked. Didn't they practically vanish in the sunlight? Now everything goes into a digital folder the same day I get it.

YES! Faded thermal receipts are EVIL. I scan everything DAY-OF.
