Check your shackle ratings before you trust them

I was getting ready for a trip to Moab next month and decided to double check all my recovery gear. Turns out the cheap shackles I bought off Amazon 2 years ago are only rated for 4,750 lbs even though the listing said 18,000. I found a stamp on the side that said G80 not G100 and looked it up on a forum. How many of us are running gear that's way weaker than we think?

G80 is actually grade 80, which is still better than a lot of cheap hardware.

That "stamp on the side" thing is scary, I never even thought to look for that. Makes me wonder how many people are just trusting the Amazon listing without actually checking the hardware itself.
