Blew $80 on a 'professional' knife sharpening kit that ruined my chef's knife
I saw this kit online with a bunch of fancy stones and a guide. Watched a video and tried it on my good 8-inch chef's knife. Ended up making uneven bevels and scratching the blade face real bad. The knife still cuts okay but it's got a wavy edge now that annoys me every time I use it. Anyone here actually had luck with those guided systems or am I better off just sending it to a pro?

And then they claimed the "easy to sharpen" line included "professional sharpening fees too" when you mess up.

Stop acting like they pulled a fast one on you, @gibson.oliver. Is it really that big of a deal? You messed up the blade, you pay for a pro to fix it. Thats how it works with any tool worth keeping. We all know "easy to sharpen" means you can do it at home if you have the skill, not that you get a lifetime of free errors. Next time take your time with the stone or just pay the fee and move on. Its not like they sold you a defective product, they just gave you an option you didnt read the fine print on. People get so dramatic over small stuff.
