Why does nobody talk about how expensive vintage soda can collecting gets?

I dropped $85 on a 1970s Fanta can from a seller in Portland, and the thing arrived dented. The seller said it adds character, but I paid for mint condition. Has anyone else gotten burned on shipping damage with these fragile old cans?

My buddy paid $120 for a 1960s Coke can that showed up with a bullet hole in it. The seller claimed it was a "rare wartime variant." It was clearly from a garage sale in Ohio.

$120 for a can with a bullet hole? That's insane. I can't believe someone actually fell for a "rare wartime variant" story on a 1960s Coke can.
