I finally picked between a gas stove and an induction cooktop

My old stove died last Tuesday and I had to choose between a cheap gas model or a $800 induction one. I went with the induction after my buddy said it heats water faster than his gas setup. Three days in and I boiled pasta in 4 minutes flat, which is crazy fast. But then I found out my favorite cast iron skillet barely works on it, so that stinks. The glass top is super easy to clean though, no more scrubbing burnt stuff off. Has anyone else made the switch and hit weird pan problems?

The whole thing feels like life's latest version of "solve one problem, find another." It's like when I bought a fancy new phone and then realized none of my old charging cables worked (you know, the universal trap). You get this amazing new feature but it comes with some annoying quirk you never saw coming.

Did you catch that article about how every new tech thing just shifts the problem somewhere else? I read something about how even electric cars have this issue - you save on gas but then you gotta deal with charging logistics and battery degradation down the road. Just feels like we're always swapping one headache for another, no matter what we buy.
