Chat with my neighbor at 3am about why she gardens in the dark

She told me it's the only time she can hear herself think without all the daytime noise, and now I'm wondering if I should start doing my late-night sketching outside instead of hunched over my desk what's your weird after-hours hobby?

She's onto something, the dark just filters out visual clutter too.

Nah that's not really how it works though. The dark doesn't filter out visual clutter, it just makes it harder to see. Your brain still knows the mess is there, you just can't see it as well. Like if my kitchen counter is covered in dirty dishes and I turn off the lights, those dishes don't disappear. They're still there. I still have to wash them in the morning. So it's more like hiding the clutter than filtering it.
