2 a.m. shift at the diner broke me last night, but the regulars saved it

Been working doubles all week and last night around 2 a.m. I dropped a whole tray of milkshakes on the tile floor. Sticky mess everywhere, and I just stood there like a fool for a second. Then old Mr. Henson from booth 4 came over with a roll of paper towels and said, "Honey, that's why they pay you the big bucks." He helped me clean it up. Weirdly made the whole thing okay. Anybody else have a random stranger turn a bad night around when you least expected it?

Big bucks" for a milkshake tray? I mean, I get it was a rough night, but is dropping a couple drinks really that deep? You stood there for a second, he handed you paper towels, and now it's like a whole emotional moment. I'd be more worried about the cleanup time and the sticky shoes for the rest of the shift than the stranger's kindness. Maybe I'm just cynical, but a guy helping you wipe up his own mess indirectly is nice, not life changing.
