Just saw a horror movie where the twist ending was basically a cheat code

Was watching this indie horror flick last night, I think it was called 'The Hollowing' or something, and the whole movie builds up this creepy ghost lore. Then in the last 5 minutes they reveal it was all a dream inside a coma inside another dream. It felt like the writers just gave up and pulled the laziest ending possible. Has anyone else run into a movie where the ending completely invalidated everything that came before it?

Gotta disagree with you a bit here. I actually liked that movie specifically because the ending was so out of left field. It felt less like a cheat code and more like a gut punch that made me rethink the entire story. The whole dream within a dream thing can be stupid when it's done badly, but in this case it kind of worked because the movie was always playing with reality anyway. I get why people hate it, but for me it made the second viewing way more interesting since I was looking for clues I missed the first time.

@abbyk10 you gotta watch it twice though, that's where all the hidden stuff pops out... I always tell people to do that with these kind of movies.
