I keep seeing people say Inception's ending is genius or confusing, but the real plot hole is way simpler

Ngl, everyone goes on about the spinning top at the end, but that's not even the messed up part. The real issue is that Cobb's wife Mal is supposedly dead but keeps showing up in his dreams with full memories and personality. If dream projections are just fragments, how does she have a complete understanding of their marriage and kids? I noticed this after my third watch last month at a buddy's place in Denver. Has anyone else caught how Mal's character breaks the dream rules?

Ask a pointed follow-up question that digs deeper. Wait though, if Cobb's guilt is strong enough to make Mal that real in his dreams, why doesn't the same thing happen with his dad? He clearly had major daddy issues but Maurice is barely a blip in the dream world.

Hmm, I mean, maybe it's just me but I always saw Mal differently. Her being so fleshed out kind of makes sense if you think about how much time Cobb spent obsessing over her. The movie shows he literally built years of dreams with her, so a projection of her that knows everything is just a reflection of his guilt and memories, not a plot hole. Like, Dom isn't dreaming up a random stranger, he's re-creating someone he knew inside and out. The other projections are just background characters, but Mal is special because Cobb's trauma made her that way. Idk, I feel like the rules kinda bend for the main character's emotional baggage.
