Pro tip: that OCD cropping in Photoshop was wasting hours of my life on memes
I spent 3 years manually masking every single meme background until a buddy at a LAN party in Cleveland told me to just use 'remove background' and layer it. Now I'm debating if that sloppy cutout look is actually better for the vibe or if clean edges still matter for certain formats - what's your take?

Sloppy cutouts are the new clean edges honestly. Been there with the mental masking grind and switching to remove.bg felt like cheating at first. But those rough edges give memes that raw authentic energy like a screenshot from 2012. Clean edges work for product photos or serious design but memes are supposed to look a little busted. I stopped caring about perfection when I realized the funniest memes I've seen all have janky backgrounds. If the joke hits nobody notices the cutout anyway.

Honestly @king.lisa, this feels like overthinking it a bit. Most people scrolling by aren't zooming in to check the edges of a cutout, they're just reading the text and moving on. A sloppy background might add character, but calling it a "new trend" seems like putting more thought into it than the meme itself probably deserves.
