My neighbor told me to stop using duct tape for screen repairs

I was patching a hole in my window screen with duct tape and my neighbor came over and said it'll just peel off in the sun. He showed me how to use a old piece of screen and some clear glue instead. Took me about 10 minutes and it's been holding for 3 months now. Has anyone else had luck with that glue method or do you just replace the whole screen?

Oh that thing about glue getting brittle in the cold makes me nervous lol. I used super glue on a garden hose fitting once and it just shattered when the temp dropped.

Did you try that clear glue trick on a bigger hole or just a small one? I saw a video where a guy used a patch from an old screen and some glue meant for outdoor stuff, said it lasted like a year. But I've also heard those glue patches can get brittle in the cold and crack.
