Just realized that thorough lock cylinder inspection trumps speedy service every time

I often hear locksmiths prioritize quick turnarounds to keep clients happy, but I disagree that this should come at the expense of diligence. Taking those extra minutes to examine each cylinder closely saved me from a callback on a commercial job last Tuesday.

Glad you avoided a callback with that extra care.

Three callbacks last year were all from jobs where we skipped the full inspection. I mean, it might add five minutes, but idk, that's nothing compared to driving back across town. Like, one was a commercial client where the latch kept sticking, and we had to replace the whole assembly. Maybe it's just me, but that extra care really does prevent headaches later.

But is avoiding one callback really worth slowing down every job? I see @alexbrown's point, but most of my residential clients just want their lock working quickly, not a forensic examination. Last Thursday I had a lady who needed her deadbolt fixed before her kids got home, and a five-minute adjustment did the trick without any follow-up issues. Focusing too much on inspection can sometimes create unnecessary delays for minimal gain.
