Spent $500 on a DIY will kit online, then paid $2,000 to fix the mess

I figured a cheap legal form would save me lawyer fees for my estate plan, but the filing got rejected twice in Texas because I missed some witness requirements. Anyone else find those online kits more trouble than they are worth?
