Picked mediation over a full court fight for a fence dispute

My neighbor and I went back and forth for 3 months about a fence line that was 2 feet over. Lawyer said it'd cost me $4,500 minimum to take it to small claims. I chose mediation through a local center for $150. We settled in one session, split the cost to move it, and didn't hate each other after. Has anyone else had luck skipping the courtroom for something like this?

$150 vs $4500? That's insane it worked out that cheap.

@fox.jesse yeah $150 is basically nothing compared to what lawyers want. I heard some mediation places even do sliding scale if you don't have much money. Makes you wonder why more people don't try it first before jumping into court.
