My neighbor's 20-minute rule about grocery shopping actually works
My neighbor Carl told me last month that if I can't decide on something in 20 seconds, I should just skip it and move on. I laughed it off, but then I hit the snack aisle on Sunday and spent like 8 minutes staring at cracker boxes. I timed myself with the rule this week, and I got through the whole store in 42 minutes instead of my usual hour and a half. Has anyone else tried a timer trick for decision fatigue, or do you just wander until the hunger hits?
Starts making you realize how many choices we just don't need to make, right? Once you cut out the 20-second doubt loop, you notice how much mental energy goes into picking between basically identical things. It's like we're trained to think every decision matters, but most of them don't, and that's kind of freeing when you finally see it.
