My dad casually said 'you don't have to own everything you like' while we were cleaning out his attic last Sunday
He pointed at a box of old golf clubs I was about to haul to my place and said 'you don't even play golf, you just like the idea of it' and man that kinda stung because I do that with half my basement. Has anyone else had a relative call them out on something that made you rethink how you collect stuff?

Oof, sounds like your dad just became the star of your next therapy session.

Wait he called you out on golf clubs? That's brutal, my dad would never remember what sport I even played.

Not necessarily brutal though. My dad never remembered anything about my hobbies either and it actually helped me figure things out on my own. Maybe being called out like that forces you to make your own choices instead of waiting for approval. There is something to be said for having a parent who lets you mess up without stepping in.
