Took me 45 minutes to find one can of tomatoes in my pantry last night

I had this RIDICULOUS moment last night where I KNEW I had a can of diced tomatoes somewhere but I spent almost an hour digging through the cabinet. Three different shelves, a bag of old lentils, and two jars of pickles later I finally found it shoved behind a box of pasta. Has anyone else had their pantry turn into a total black hole for ingredients?

I used to just shove stuff in the back of the pantry and forget about it, but after a few too many lost cans I finally started putting newer stuff behind the old stuff. Still, that tomato hunt sounds like a nightmare, did you end up tossing those old lentils in the process?

Cracked up reading this because I've totally been there. Found a bag of lentils from 2018 behind a box of pasta last month and they looked fine but I just couldn't bring myself to cook them. Ended up tossing them and the whole time I was thinking about all the other stuff I've probably lost back there. My pantry is like an archaeological dig at this point, layers of good intentions and forgotten beans.
