My ice maker died mid August in Phoenix and I'm split on what to do
My fridge's ice maker stopped working last Wednesday when it hit 115 degrees outside. I can either spend $150 on a repair guy or just buy a $40 countertop ice maker from Target. Which route would you take for a quick fix in this heat?

My neighbor dropped $150 on a fridge repair and the guy fixed the wrong part, so I'd go Target and save yourself the heartburn. At least if a $40 ice maker breaks, you're only out a few pizzas worth of cash.

Used to be all about fixing the old stuff, but after my AC unit went out last July I changed my mind completely. For 115 degree heat and just a quick fix, grab that $40 countertop one from Target no hesitation. You'll have ice in under 15 minutes instead of waiting around for a repair guy who might not even show up till next week in that weather. The repair can wait till it cools down, you need cold drinks right now.
