Unpopular opinion: Bathroom open shelving is a hassle I didn't expect

I put up some open shelves in my bathroom last fall. They were supposed to make things easier to reach. Instead, I find myself dusting them all the time. My soap and lotion bottles get sticky from humidity. Even my extra towels pick up a weird smell. It looks messy no matter how I arrange it. I really wish I had chosen a cabinet with doors.

You ever notice how fast dust builds up in a bathroom? It's way worse than other rooms because of all the moisture and stuff in the air... So you're not just dusting, you're cleaning up a weird film. That sounds like a total hassle.

But isn't that film mostly from soap and hard water instead of dust? Dust is dry and floats around, but bathroom gunk sticks because of the wet air. It's like a mix of skin flakes, shampoo residue, and minerals from the water. That's why it feels so nasty to clean up, right? Maybe using a squeegee after showers helps cut down on it?

Actually, skin flakes are a big part of regular dust too, not just the bathroom film.
