Question about my French press sediment issue

I brewed coffee with my French press today. The sediment at the bottom was THICK and gritty. Should I use a coarser grind or press more gently?

Stop treating your French press like it owes you money, lol. A coarse grind helps, but you also gotta press like you're handling a sleeping baby, not wrestling a bear. That sludge at the bottom is just the price we pay for good coffee.
