Hot take: I was sure dark roast meant stronger coffee

Honestly, I picked dark beans for years thinking they had more kick. Tbh, a light roast from a local shop showed me how much flavor I was missing.

Yeah dark roast just tastes burnt to cover up weaker beans.

Seriously, you thought dark roast was stronger? I mean, idk, maybe it's just me but I always heard light roast actually has more caffeine since the beans aren't roasted as long. The flavor thing is huge too, like dark roast can taste kinda burnt compared to all the fruity notes in a light roast. It's crazy how common that mix-up is.

My local spot's single-origin light roast changed everything. Tastes like blueberries, not ash. I was shocked too.
