Just realized my cheap hydraulic hose crimper cost me a $500 repair
I bought a no-name crimper online for a quick field fix on my skid steer, and the fitting blew off under pressure two days later. That leak ruined a pump seal and the downtime killed a whole afternoon's work. Anyone got a solid brand they trust for hose tools that won't crap out?

Look, maybe I'm just cheap, but I feel like we're all getting a little too precious about tools. A crimper is a simple machine. I've used the cheap ones for years without turning a pump into scrap metal. Did you double-check your measurement on the hose before you crimped? @dylan413 can have his Gates fan club, but most of the time when a fitting blows, it's an install error, not the tool. Spending a grand on a brand name crimper won't fix a rushed job.

My old shop had three of those cheap crimpers fail in a month.

Honestly, that "quick field fix" story is why my shop foreman swears by Gates crimpers.
