Pro tip from a local barber shop collab
I saw a barber and stylist team up at a street fair in my area. They were doing quick cuts for a charity event. The way they shared tools and space was so smooth. I picked up a few time-saving moves just by watching. It's inspired me to reach out to other shops nearby.

That smooth sharing of tools and space is the best part. You could take that further by swapping business tips with those other shops, like how each place handles a sudden rush of customers. It turns nearby shops from competitors into a real network that can help each other out. That kind of thing builds up the whole local scene for everyone.

Wow, I totally used to see other shops as just rivals fighting for the same clients. Reading what @butler.mark said about swapping tips on handling rushes really flipped that for me. Like, my shop could call another when we're overbooked and send them the overflow, and they could do the same. We could even share where we get good deals on supplies. That turns every shop into a backup plan, which is way better for customers and way less stressful for us.

Yeah, that idea of turning rivals into a backup plan is spot on. I see it with the freelancers I know, where someone will pass a client to a friend if they're too busy. It stops being a zero-sum game and just makes the whole local work scene stronger.
