A weekly team meeting fixed our salon's supply drama
We kept having fights over who used the last of the developer or forgot to clean the bowls. It was getting really bad, and the mood in the salon was tense. I thought about it and realized we never shared our needs or schedules. So, I suggested we start a quick ten minute meeting every Monday morning. In that meeting, we each say what big color jobs we have that week and if we need any special supplies. We also use a whiteboard to note when we plan to deep clean the back area. Since we started doing this, the arguments have almost stopped. It sounds simple, but just planning together ahead of time improved things a lot.

Wait, that would never fly at my old place. Meetings just felt like another chore on a busy Monday, and half the staff would tune out or give vague answers. We had better luck just having a big wall calendar and a supply checklist by the storage room, no talking needed.

Shocked that half the staff tuned out. How did any work get done?

Guess what made people tune out in the first place. Was it just boring, or did it feel pointless like no one listened. Maybe the calendar worked because it cut out that whole song and dance.
