Stood in a GameStop for 20 minutes watching someone trade in a copy of Anthem

I was at the GameStop on Main Street last Saturday, killing time, and this guy walks up to trade in Anthem (you know, that BioWare looter shooter from 2019). The clerk told him he'd get maybe $2.50 for it, and he still went through with it, which honestly felt like paying someone to take his regret off the shelf. Has anyone else stuck around in a store just to watch a bad video game decision unfold?

Haha yeah I did basically the same thing at a Best Buy once. Some guy was trying to return a Madden game from like three years ago and the employee was trying to explain to him that the trade in value was literally 11 cents. I just stood there like watching a nature documentary, dude actually took the 11 cents and walked out looking proud of himself. It's like people don't realize those games drop to zero value faster than you can blink. Anthem for $2.50 though that's a new low, that clerk probably felt bad even handing over the cash.

You ever just stop and realize how stupid the whole trade-in system is? I used to think gamestop was ripping people off when i was a kid, but honestly the market sets the price. You bring in a game nobody wants anymore, what do you expect? That Anthem story is brutal though, 2.50 is basically charity. I guess it makes sense when you think about it, but it still stings to see it in action.
