Remember when everyone swore Morrowind was perfect and you were crazy for pointing out bugs?

Back in like 2003 I was telling my friends how my save file kept corrupting after 40 hours because of some memory leak or something. They all told me I must be doing something wrong, that Bethesda doesn't release broken games like that. Took me another 10 years before I found out it was a known issue that never got patched proper. Anybody else get gaslit into thinking your copy was just defective?

Save often and rotate between at least 3 different save files. That memory leak was real and it would trash your main save without warning after enough playtime. I lost a level 50 character before I learned that lesson the hard way. Bethesda never admits these things until years later when someone digs up an old forum post. Keep a few backups and you'll save yourself the headache.

Hate to be that person @patriciaellis, but the memory leak was actually patched pretty early on, it was the save file bloat that got worse over time. That's why your level 50 character got corrupted - too many items and physics objects piling up in the save data. So rotating files is still a good habit but the real fix is keeping your inventory lean and not leaving 200 plates on the floor.
