Forget the client's feelings for a second, imagine the legal mess if they both used the same template and one tried to sue the other for copying. It's a weird copyright gray area that nobody talks about. You're basically handing them identical code and telling them to fight over it. That free template could cost way more in legal fees than a custom site ever would.

Had a client once who insisted on using a free icon set. Saw the same icons later on a shady pharmacy site. They paid to have them all redone.
