Question about finding inspo in daily commute sketches.

Doodling on the train leads to my best concepts.

Read something once about how moving through a space can switch your brain into a more open, noticing mode. On my bus ride, I'll see the way someone's jacket folds when they're sitting, or how the light hits a row of houses just right. That loose, unfocused attention when you're between places seems to let ideas connect in weird new ways. My sketchbook from last month is full of quick scribbles of backpack shapes and telephone wires that turned into bigger design drafts later.

Totally! My brain does that same thing on my commute home. I'll notice stuff like the way streetlights make puddles look oily, and later some weird connection pops into my head. It's cool that your bus rides turn into full sketches!

My old sketchbook had a whole section just for bus window reflections. I started keeping a tiny notebook in my coat pocket for those moments because pulling out my phone never felt right. The key is to write the note or make the scribble right then, even if it's just three words. If you wait until you get home, that oily puddle feeling is totally gone. I've lost so many good ideas by thinking I'd remember the texture later.
