I used to hate using grids for layout, but a project last month changed my mind
I was working on a poster for a local coffee shop and everything felt messy for days. My friend told me to just try a 12-column grid in Figma, so I did. I spent maybe two hours moving elements around within it, and the whole thing just clicked into place. The spacing looked clean without me having to guess. Has anyone else had a project where a simple grid just saved the day?

Kill any chance for something to look interesting" feels like a stretch. I see it the opposite way, like the grid gives you a solid base so you can actually get creative with the stuff inside it without everything looking messy.

Ugh, hard disagree. Grids just make everything look the same, like a boring template. I feel like they kill any chance for something to actually look interesting or unique.

Okay but when you say they make everything look the same, what are you actually looking at? I mean, a good grid is supposed to be invisible, it just organizes the chaos. Maybe it's just me but the most unique stuff I've seen still has some structure hiding under it.
