Appreciation post: Remembering the old design annuals at the library
I used to spend hours at the Seattle Public Library looking through the Communication Arts Design Annuals for ideas, flipping through actual pages. Now my whole process is just scrolling through Pinterest or saving stuff from Behance on my phone. The shift happened around 2015 when my first real design job gave me a laptop. Anyone else miss the physical reference books, or is the digital stuff just way more practical now?

Miss the smell of old paper and the satisfying thump of closing a giant design book.

That shift around 2015 feels like the moment everything, not just design work, got flattened onto a screen.

Remember when screens started feeling like the only place left to be a person? Like even hanging out got turned into a video call grid, and your whole life became a series of apps to manage.
