Spent $12 on a specific brand of batteries and my TV remote started working a month after it died
I bought a pack of Rayovac high-energy AAs for my remote that had been totally dead. The weird part is, the old batteries still tested fine on a meter, but these new ones just... worked. Has anyone else had electronics act weird with power like that?

That's just the placebo effect for your remote lol. Old batteries probably had a weak load voltage that the meter didn't catch. New ones always fix that.

Nah, you're right about the voltage thing. I had a TV remote that worked fine for months until it just stopped. Meter said 1.3 volts but new batteries fixed it right away. There's something about the load test that multimeters just don't show. Just had to throw the old ones out and move on.

Tell Rileyjones the placebo effect doesn't buy batteries. Remotes get picky. Those old batteries might show voltage but can't deliver the juice when you hit a button. Fresh ones have the kick. My garage door opener does the same thing. It's like the electronics get lazy.
