My old kitchen clock ran backwards for an afternoon
It happened last Tuesday, right after a brief power flicker. The second hand started ticking counter-clockwise, and the digital display on the microwave read 8:17 for over an hour. Has anyone else had an appliance just decide to break the rules of time like that?
Power flickers mess with cheap electronics all the time. It's just a weird glitch, not some time travel event. The clock probably reset to a default setting or the motor got a jolt. These things are built with the cheapest parts possible. It's a funny story, but it's not that deep. Your microwave holding a number is just a failed display.
Seriously, it's just a broken clock. Those things glitch out all the time (mine shows 88:88 sometimes). We don't need to invent time travel to explain a cheap part failing.
