My old boss swore by using a 50/50 mix of water and white vinegar for cleaning glass, and I thought it was a waste of time. A customer in Tacoma last month insisted I try it on their storefront windows, and the finish was way better than my usual spray.

Your old boss was onto something, but a 50/50 mix is actually too strong for most glass. It can leave streaks and the smell is pretty harsh. A better starting point is one part vinegar to four parts water, with a drop of dish soap. That cuts the grime without the residue.

Tried that once and my cat avoided the kitchen for a week. She's picky about smells.

Ever try adding a little rubbing alcohol to that mix? It helps the whole thing dry way faster, which is the real key to no streaks. I do like a cup of vinegar, four cups of water, and then a good splash of the 70% alcohol stuff.
