I've been scoring glass wrong for a decade and a client's comment proved it
Always used a standard carbide cutter and just went for it. A homeowner in Boise asked why my cuts were so loud and chattery compared to the last guy. Borrowed a different cutter from the supplier, a Toyo, and the difference in sound and the clean break was insane. What's your go-to cutter for heavy plate?

I mean, the sound of a bad glass cut is basically the universe telling you to get a Toyo.

That sound just means you need a new blade, not a whole new cutter. A Toyo is nice but it's overkill for most jobs. Plenty of cheaper cutters work fine if you know how to use them.

Yeah man, @the_wyatt I feel you on that one. There's something about that high pitched screech that just makes your whole body tense up. I've had cuts where the glass fights you the whole way, and you know in your gut it's gonna be a jagged edge mess before you even finish. Sure, a fresh blade helps, but sometimes the tool just ain't got the right feel to it. When you're doing a bunch of cuts and every single one feels like a battle, that's when you start eyeing the higher end stuff.
