A $400 digital level seemed like a silly buy until it caught a 2-degree frame twist on a big storefront job.
That one tool reading saved me from a huge callback and reinstall, so has anyone found a cheaper brand that's just as accurate?

You're looking for a cheaper brand that's just as accurate, but in my experience, that's where you get into trouble. The expensive one already proved its worth by catching a major error, so switching to save money seems risky. I'd stick with the tool you know works.

Honestly, I get looking for a deal. My old Johnson digital level has been spot on for years and cost half that.

Exactly, cheap tools cost you more later. My buddy tried saving on a level and it was off enough to ruin a whole countertop install.
