The way I handle color bars in my work totally shifted after a workshop in Portland
For years, I just rolled my color bars on the marver like everyone showed me, which worked fine but sometimes gave me streaks. At that workshop, the instructor had us try a different method where you heat the bar more and then gently press it into the gather with a paddle. I switched over about three months ago and my color saturation is way more even now. Do you think the old rolling method is still better for certain colors, or is this new press-in way the move?

Ever notice how a small tweak in your process can unlock a bigger result? Your color bar story reminds me of finally learning to properly sharpen a kitchen knife, which changed everything I chopped. Sometimes the standard way just needs one good update to become way more effective.

Did you mean to reply to someone else's color bar story? I don't remember posting one, but I love your point, @diana_foster. That knife sharpening example is perfect. It's funny how we can stick with a slightly dull way of doing things for years without realizing a simple fix is right there. Your comment makes me want to go check all my own routine tasks for one of those small, powerful updates.

Totally get that feeling. Read something similar about people using the wrong grip on can openers for years.
